The White Buffalo Releases New Album ‘Darkest Darks, Lightest Lights’

Acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Paste,
Guitar World, The Boot, And Others

On Tour This Fall

The White Buffalo has released Darkest Darks, Lightest Lights, the sixth album from LA-based songwriter Jake Smith, and the most hard-hitting record of his career. Stripped-down folk. Electrified swamp-soul. Heartland rock. Bluesy boogie-woogie. It’s all here, tied together by the super-sized vocals and articulate songwriting of a bandleader whose work is sometimes moody, sometimes menacing, but always melodic.

Songwriter Jake Smith has resolutely charted his own single-minded musical course for more than a decade. His captivating live presence and workingman’s approach to his craft has earned him a loyal fan base nationwide. The California-bred artist writes timeless, vividly detailed character studies, tapping into the emotional lives of various misfits, outsiders and troubled souls with insight and compassion. His songwriting is matched by his rough-hewn, deeply expressive voice, and by his distinctive instrumental arrangements, which are simultaneously intimate and epic.
