Dropkick Murphys Release Video for New Single, “UNTIL THE NEXT TIME”

As they prepare for the launch of their From Boston to Berkeley Tour, Dropkick Murphys released a new music video yesterday for “Until Next Time.” The single comes from the band’s most recent record, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory. The song is a change of pace for the Boston punk band — a slowed down jam which evokes a closing-time bar sing-a-long among friends. The video showcases excited fans as well as fun behind the scenes clips of the band touring. A masterful kazoo solo proceeds the start of the song in the (strangely fitting) opening clip, embracing the lighthearted and intimate vibe of the song. Check out the video for Until Next Time below.

From today’s press release:

In the midst of European festivals and headlining shows, Dropkick Murphys have released a video for “Until The Next Time,” from their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album.

Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey explains, “The music video for ‘Until The Next Time’ was directed by our longtime friend and amazing photographer Gregory Nolan during our 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory Tour in both Europe and the U.S. This song is about our relationship with YOU, the best fans on the planet. It’s about the memories and the great friends we’ve made along the way…about the pleasure of coming to so many cities that we feel we can almost call home, and the bittersweet moments of having to say goodbye and move on to the next town every night.”

According to drummer Matt Kelly, “Until The Next Time” is “a song about having to put the good times on hold temporarily. We were glad to come, so sad to go, so while we’re here we’ll have us a real good time! See you out on the ice!”

Gregory Nolan, tour videographer and director of the video said, “There are two kinds of shots I love with the Dropkicks: hijinks between band members and moments of connection between the band and fans. The awesome thing about putting together this music video is that I got to shape the story that puts these relationships at the center, with music as the method of connection. It’s the perfect song to celebrate the good times, and to get the sense that the friendships we share will always come back around again.”

Dropkick MurphysAl Barr, Tim Brennan, Ken Casey, Jeff DaRosa, Matt Kelly, James Lynch—return to the U.S. in July for their co-headlining From Boston To Berkeley Tour with Rancid. The month-long trek kicks off July 27 in Bangor, ME and wraps August 26 at the It’s Not Dead festival in San Bernardino, CA, near Los Angeles. Each night of the tour will culminate with Rancid and Dropkick Murphys on stage together for a joint encore.

The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns open the July 27 – August 9 shows and The Selecter and Kevin Seconds open from August 11 – 26.

Tickets are on sale now at www.DropkickMurphys.com.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of Dropkick Murphys’ original EP at a friend’s house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong, who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

Dropkick Murphys are touring in support of their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Gloryalbum, released through the band’s own Born & Bred Records earlier this year. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 independently released album. There’s a feeling of purpose throughout the album, influenced by the band’s work with The Claddagh Fund, a charity the band established in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children’s and veterans’ organizations. Dropkick Murphys are hands-on in raising funds, mentoring, and lending a helping hand with veterans, youth sports, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Many of the songs reflect these experiences, and the band’s sadness, anger and dismay at the opiate epidemic ravaging the country – in particular, Boston and New England — and also their feeling of pride and optimism at the sight of those who have turned their lives around.Dropkick Murphys have become ambassadors for their city. In Boston, it seems like everybody knows someone connected to the band whether by blood, friendship, or the time they shared a brew at a Bruins game. They’ve built a legacy that does Beantown proud.

SILENT PLANET Release New Video “Understanding Love As Loss”

May 30th, 2017 – New York City, NY – Christian metalcore band Silent Planet have released the visuals for their powerful single “Understanding Love As Loss.” Fans can stream the video exclusively via Billboard here: goo.gl/iITz8y. The band will be performing on Warped Tour 2017 all summer, kicking off on June 16th in Seattle, WA. For more information, please visit: https://www.silentplanetband.com/

“Understanding Love As Loss” illuminates the truth behind depression and anxiety, and the weight it places on the individual and those who love them. Lyricist/vocalist Garrett Russell details personal experiences, while touching on the stories of a few of history’s greatest creative minds, including Sylvia Plath, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf and David Foster Wallace. “They all committed suicide in the midst of great work,” Garrett told Billboard, “I have come to find that people struggling with depression generally have a unique angle of perceiving others – one that can be quite full of insight.

“The crucial message of “Understanding Love As Loss” is one that hits home for Russell, who previously worked as a therapist on his college campus. Having dealt with suicidal ideations himself and working closely with students struggling as well, the message is close to Russell’s heart.

“As a therapist, I saw a lot of students who dealt with depression and there’s no easy answer.”  Russell explains, “Life is full of loss and it’s not easy, but I do believe if people can talk about what they’re going through that there’s hope.”

When asked what it really means to ‘understand love as loss’ he remarked, “I’ve understood that truly loving someone involves giving up part of yourself and allowing them into the sacred space of your self. In both the happy and sad endings of loving someone, I’ve begun to see that Love and Loss aren’t at odds, but are mutually inclusive.”

The “Understanding Love As Loss” visuals come to a close with a black screen showing the Suicide Hotline and Heart Support website. The inclusion is intentional and important, as Russell emphasizes: “Even if it saves one person’s life or leads them to get connected in that moment, then it’s totally worth it to us.”

Based in Los Angeles, CA Silent Planet is comprised of Alex Camarena, Thomas Freckleton, Garrett Russell and Mitchell Stark. The four-piece made waves in the metalcore scene and beyond with their debut album The Night God Slept and have continued to produce dynamic, one-of-a-kind music ever since. “Understanding Love As Loss” comes from Silent Planet’s latest album Everything Was Sound, released last year. The project was lauded by Team Rock, The PRP, New Noise Magazine and HM Magazine who praised the band saying that they have, “become an explosive presence in the metalcore scene.” This summer the band will hit the road for their third year on The Van’s Warped Tour, stopping in cities across the country.
